Monday, March 10, 1862

Interesting day that will be (interestingly enough) outlined in interesting points of interest.

First Interesting point - I got a letter from dad today. He's lovely as ever and it just adds to my argument that Mr. Oliver is full of it.

Second Interesting point - Mrs. Beckwith is still creepy and furthermore, she doubts my knowledge of stories. There surely would have been more added to this statement but then Jack interrupted, which leads me to...

Third Interesting point - Deputy Brownback killed someone today.

Now i'm just waiting for something like Ivy running off to become a nun and this day will be complete.

Sunday, March 9, 1862

According to the paper, my dad is a drunk abusive slave trader.

At this point i would like to discuss what is wrong with AP now a days. I remember when i was a boy of 8 that the newspaper was one's prime source of factual information. It seems that lately however they seem to only to be interested in getting the attention of the local idiots and thus will print anything that they deem "entertaining". No matter how false and slanderous it may be. This is quite a large problem, you see. This goes farther than being a minor inconvenience to just my family. If one can lie about a minor story like that, what is stopping them from printing lies about, oh i don't know, THE WAR. That paper is our only source of outside information, save for the few of us in town that get letters from those living abroad and I doubt that they're sending national news by post. We have one man in town who is slowly shaping the minds and opinions of the young children, such as my brother. He is replacing the facts of the world which we should be learning, and replacing them with his own twisted opinions. I for one will NOT stand for this.

At several points in my short life so far, I have considered working for the news as a fall back should i never realise my dream of joining the Calvary. Due to recent events as i have mentioned, I am no longer considering this option. Let Mr. Oliver work his own stories out by his lonesome self.

Umm... did i write this?

Thought Jack was crazy, but he ain't. Well, he may be crazy but he's not making up people.

But on the topic of crazy...

Mrs. Beckwith is creepy. She acts like a kid, but she ain't. She was playing indians and splashing around and such. That wouldn't be weird but she's like 50 years old. Aren't people supposed to stop doing things like that when they grow up?

And Mrs. Knight reminds me of mom. I dunno why.

I'm glad because it was beginning to look hopeless.

I'm just about ready to give up and let what happens happen, but i figure i can give it one more shot. I just hope i don't lose control again.

I don't understand my brother. He doesn't realise that all us are trying to help him. It's like he doesn't care about us anymore. He's tearing my mom apart and she's got enough to worry about.

He needs to grow up a bit.

And Ivy needs to go off and die somewhere. Hopefully somewhere cold and lonely.

That's why it so empty at the moment, because so far St. Erasmus is more boring than a dead fish.

I suppose the only unusual thing ive seen around here is a man who goes around wearing skirts, but you can't really blame him.
